Descriptive Writing


Now let's have a look at a few examples of descriptive words and their uses in detail.
 

1) Our group is very adventurous loves to go hiking.

In this sentence, the word adventurous shows the type of people there is. 

2) She has a brown, leather designer bag.
 
In this sentence, the words brown and leather are describing the color and material of the bag. 
It is basically telling us about the look of the designer bag. 

3) Mrs. Brown loves to have a glass of sweet, dark chocolate milkshake.

In this sentence, the word sweet and dark are describing the color and appearance of the chocolate milkshake. 

4) Mr. Carl likes to go for a walk early in the morning and breathe in the fresh, cool air outside.
 
In this sentence, the word fresh and cool is used to describe the type of air in which Mr. Carl like to breathe. 
Also, these words are used to show the type of air there is early in the morning. 

5) The city was polluted with plastic lying all over the roads making it look messy and also stink a lot.

In this sentence, the word polluted shows the condition of the city. 
Also, the word messy shows how the roads looked (used to describe their appearance). 
Also, the word stinks tells us about the type of smell (bad smell) due to the plastic and dirt.

 Clause In the previous blog, we learned about the Independent clause and Dependent clause. In this blog, we are going to learn about the Relative clause and Noun clause.  Types of Clause  1) Relative Clause  2) Noun Clause Let's learn about each type of clause in detail and practice them to understand the concept better.  1) Relative Clause  A relative clause is used to modify a noun or a noun phrase. It is used to relate one part of its clause to the noun or the noun phrase using a relative pronoun such as - who, which, that.  It is also used to join two sentences talking about the same topic using the relative pronoun - who, which, that. Example:  a) I bought a new car that is white in color.  In this case, the relative pronoun is that . It is joining two phrases in a sentence, therefore forming a relative clause .
